Menands-Nicholas J. Criscione, 68, entered into Eternal Life on Monday, May 21, 2012, while on an annual fishing trip to Grand Lake Stream, Maine. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Luisa Graziano Criscione and Nicholas Criscione, beloved husband of Carol Frone Criscione, loving father of Nicole Criscione Szesnat and her husband Albert “Boo” Szesnat and Matthew Criscione, cherished grandfather of Nicholas and Anna Szesnat, caring brother of Guy Criscione, Angeline Papale and Anita Criscione and also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nick is a 1961 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Manhattan College, ’66 and Albany Law School, ‘69. He practiced law for more than 40 years, was an Albany County Assistant District Attorney, and a three term Colonie Town Justice. Proud of his Italian heritage, Nick was a founding member, past president and general counsel of the Italian American Community Center, served on the City of Albany Columbus Day parade committee and was a long time member of the Italian American Heritage Foundation, the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society and Sons of Italy. Golf and fishing gave him great challenges. He loved Sunday dinners with his brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whether vacationing on Cape Cod, golfing, playing bocce or kickball. Nick was a strong man who did everything quietly and with humility. Funeral services Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville at 10:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, May 24, 2012 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, now located at 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
