Ruth Elizabeth Andrist Klohck

Ruth E. Klohck, in her 100th year, died Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Teresian House, Albany. She was born in Gloversville on September 16, 1916, the daughter of the Ruth (Robinson) Andrist and Jerome L. Andrist . She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and Gloversville Business School. Ruth managed a branch office for Hudson-Mohawk Mutual Casualty Company until the office closed. She then accepted a position as office manager at the local YMCA. After her marriage to Lieutenant Commander John W. Klohck in 1946, she and her family lived in New York City, California, Rhode Island, three years in Argentia, Newfoundland, and Massachusetts. When her husband retired from the Navy, the family returned to Gloversville to live. Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, John W. Klohck. She is survived by her son William J. Klohck and his wife Patricia, a niece and nephew, and cousins. Ruth’s family wishes to thank Teresian House staff for seven years of caring for Ruth and ourselves. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 507 Kent Street, Utica, NY 13501. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
