Gly E. Preisser

Albany-Gly E. Preisser, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 18, 2013 at the age of 90. Gly was Born on May 24, 1922 in Chazy, NY and moved to Albany, NY at the age of 15. Gly graduated from Albany High School and went to work for United Traction Company (CDTA), Rampo Wine & Liquor and retired from the New York State of Equalization & Assessment after 20 years of service. She was a member of the North Albany’s American Legion Post 1610 Women’s Auxiliary. Wife of the late William H. Preisser; beloved mother, she is survived by her daughters, Linda J. (Donald) Olthoff of Castleton, NY and Janis A. (Anthony) Sabatino of Loudonville, NY; cherished Grandmother of Stacey L. Planz of Delmar, NY, Kelly M. Planz of Albany, NY, Emily J. (Gary) Auclaire of Menands, NY and Philip W. Sabatino of New York City, NY; Great-Grandmother of Keegan A. Auclaire of Menands, NY; Step-Grandmother of Donna M. Olthoff of Wynantskill, NY and Donald M. Olthoff Jr. of Schenectady, NY; special aunt of Mark Tatro and his companion Mary Hamiliton of Warwick, NY and Robert Wilfore of Troy, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by parents Jane Paquette Tatro and Henry J. Tatro; brothers Raymond Tatro, Earle Tatro, Robert Tatro; and sisters Viola Brooks, Veronica Dewyea, Olive McCarnan, Rena Wilfore, Beryl Mudry and Elsie Tatro. Mom was a proud resident of North Albany for over 60 years. She was devoted to her family and lived her life exactly as she wanted. As this past Christmas approached, Mom wanted nothing more than to be home for Christmas. The family was determined to make that happen. What a great Christmas Eve party Mom hosted! With the help of Albany Community Hospice and the great care given by her Grand-daughters Stacey & Kelly who brought Mom into the 21st century by having internet installed in her home, so they could work from Mom’s home every day to care for her and Grand-daughter Emily who visited often with Mom’s only great-grandchild, Keegan. Emily and Keegan brought the family so much joy and happiness over the past few months. We cannot forget Philip, Mom’s Grandson who lives in New York City for all his support and sense of humor to keep us going through this journey. We love you Mom & Nanny, always have and always will. Last but not least, the wonderful Albany Community Hospice team of Sue, Connie, Beth and Trish without their kindness, respect and guidance bringing mom home would not have been possible. Thank you all so much for being our angels here on earth. A special thank you to Fr. Butler for all his kindness and prayers. Funeral services Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 9:30 am from the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, now located at 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY thence to St. Pius X Church, Loudonville at 10:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday, 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
