Howard J. Meineker Jr.

Loudonville-Howard J. Meineker Jr, 71, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Albany, he is the cherished son of Helen Smolinski Meineker and the late Howard J. “Duke” Meineker Sr. Howard graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. He was a veteran of the US Army and the National Guard of New York. He was the longtime co-owner of Kurver Kreme on Central Avenue in Colonie. Howard retired as a Civil Engineer from the NYS Thruway Authority. He also worked for many years at the NYS Department of Transportation. He was the former co-owner of Ceramics By Lorie. Howard was a member of the Colonie Elks, the Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and was a former CSEA Shop Steward . He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, traveling and was a fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family and attending his grandchildren’s activities. “Poppie” was their number one fan! He was the devoted husband and best friend for 50 years of Dolores “Lorie” Stramiello Meineker; admired father of Kimberly Ann Ciprioni (Matthew) and Cheryl Ann McCarroll (Hon. Craig Apple Sr); proud Poppie of Laci Cahill, Anthony Ciprioni, Nicholas McCarroll and Nathan McCarroll; brother-in-law of Ann Chatfield and Frank Stramiello (Kathy); former father-in-law of Patrick Cahill and Patrick McCarroll. Also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and countless friends. Funeral services Monday, February 4, 2013 at 8:45 am from the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, now located at 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Historic Church of St. Mary on Capitol Hill, Albany at 9:30 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday, February 3, 2013 1:00 to 5:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Howard J.
