Sr. Valerie Paccone C.R.

Castleton-Sister Valerie Paccone, C.R., age 78, was called home to God on October 9, 2018. Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Resurrection on August 30, 1964 and professed her final vows on August 15, 1971. She celebrated the 50th anniversary of her religious profession in 2016. Sister’s ministry to God and the Church over the course of many years was mainly in the fields of religious formation and education. Sister earned her B.A. from Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY, a M.A. in Philosophy from the College of St Rose in Albany, and a M.A. in Religious Studies from Notre Dame Apostolic Catechetical Institute. Sister served her community as Directress of Postulants and Directress of Novices at the Provincialate in Castleton, New York for ten years. Her many years of dedicated service in Catholic Education included teaching at Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale, NY, in St. Casimir School in Yonkers, NY, and for nineteen years Sister served as Director of Religious Education in Howell, New Jersey. Born in New York City, Sister Valerie was the daughter of the late Humbert Ernest and Rita Marie Guarldi Paccone. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Gregory and Ernest Joseph. Sister Valerie is survived by her sisters Judith (Angelo) Corticelli and Rita (Eugene) Stash and her brothers Humbert (Katherine) Paccone and Thomas (Margaret) Paccone as well as many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, numerous cousins and relatives. Sister Valerie became a resident of Riverside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in September of 2013. Here she continued her ministry of service by advocating for the residents as head of the Resident Council. The Sisters of the Resurrection extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Riverside for their loving care of Sister Valerie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sister’s wake at the Sisters of the Resurrection Provincialate Chapel, 35 Boltwood Avenue, Castleton on Friday, October 12th from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Castleton.
