Agostino Parrottino

Albany- Agostino Parrottino, 79, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sorbo San Basile, Catanzaro, Italy he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Rosa Amalia Mustari Parrottino. Agostino immigrated to the United States on May 20th, 1970 with his wife and young children. Through hard work and dedication he built a life for himself and his family in the United States that he was very proud of. He worked for The Laborers Local Union 190 for many years. He was a member of the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society where he played in his much loved bocce league. His love of gardening, making homemade wine and sopressata was only surpassed by the love that he had for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving man who greeted everyone with a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye and a man always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Caterina Granato Parrottino; father of Joseph Parrottino (Karen), Frank Parrottino, Amalia Silvernell (Dutch), Saverio “Rino” Parrottino (Lisa); Grandfather of Kaila Patricia Dunham, Matthew Joseph Parrottino, Christina Marie Parrottino and Joseph Agostino Parrottino; brother of the late Maria Giglio, the late Caterina Sama, the late Giuseppe Parrottino, the late Salvatore Parrottino, the late Carmelina Ursetta, Eleonora Donnaruma and the late Saverio Parrottino. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members both here and back in Italy. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Agostino’s family on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, now located at 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Funeral services Friday, December 9, 2016 at 9:15 am from the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, thence to St. Francis of Assisi Church, Delaware Avenue at 10:00 am where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Interment will immediately follow the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery.
