Denis L. Conlon

Glenmont, NY – Denis L. Conlon, 65, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023 after a brief illness. Denis was born in Albany, NY to Robert and Mary (McEniry) Conlon and he lived most of his life in Albany prior to his current residence in Glenmont. Denis graduated from Albany High in 1976 and immediately pursued his lifetime career of welding which began with General Steel. One of the first projects he worked on was the Olympic Ski Jumps in Lake Placid, NY. Denis established his own company, Conlon Bros. Steel Corporation in 1978, specializing in fabricated structural metal. Over his business career, Denis worked for many General Contractors including Rosch Brothers, which is owned and operated by family. Denis worked on many unique projects throughout his career and had the honor of assisting with the World Trade Center exhibit at the New York State Museum. Denis had a kind and generous heart, always willing and available to lend a hand to help family and friends. He was headstrong and shared his opinion whether you asked for it or not! He enjoyed his simple lifestyle and his country setting surrounded by nature. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee with friends and attending auctions and was always in search of the perfect deal. Denis is survived by his brothers Tim (Joni) of Glenville and Pat (Patty) of Guilderland. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews Kelly (Wes) Gripshover, Kyle (Erin) Conlon, Chris (Cory) Conlon and Katie Conway, along with several great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Community Hospice and Perry Jones of Capital City Rescue Mission for their care and guidance on his final journey. Also, forever grateful to his close and dedicated friend Billy Fichter, who visited and checked in on him often.
