Mabel L. Monagle

Colonie-Mabel Louise (Egan) Monagle entered into eternal life with those she loved and missed in the early hours of November 16, 2017. She was the loving daughter of the late Ruth Egan, loving sister to the late William Egan and the proud and loving wife of the late William Monagle, with whom she spent over 40 years before he passed January 4, 1991. Mabel was born in Homestead, PA on September 1, 1928. She married her sweetheart Bill in Pittsburgh, PA, July 3, 1947. Her most favorite pastime was crocheting. She was rarely without her yarn and crochet hook, no matter where she was. If she knew and loved you or someone you knew, you most likely have some kind of handmade afghan or scarf. She was known to whip up a scarf and hand the completed project to anyone in need of a friendly gesture or hug. Her proudest achievement was her family. On her death bed, she said what a privilege it was to have such a large and loving family, that stuck together like glue (albeit Krazy Glue!) She is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Ruth Whatmough of Merrimack, NH; William Monagle and his wife Patricia (Casey) of Sicklerville, NJ; Blair Monagle and his wife Della (Devine) of Franklinville, NJ; Kathleen Duprey and her husband Gerard (Jerry) of Merrimack, NH; Marianne Hathaway and her husband Jon-Reed of Milford, NH; Colleen Fisher and her husband Jeffrey of Waterford, NY; Suzanne Pietrykowski and her husband Michael of Guilderland, NY. Her ten grandchildren and spouses: Christopher and Stacie Monagle, Janet Whatmough, William and Melanie Monagle, Thomas and Kelly Duprey, Victoria and Brian Moynahan, Christine and Erol Senel, Matthew Pietrykowski, Daniel Fisher, Andrew Pietrykowski, and Sarah Fisher. Her seventeen great-grandchildren: Corey, Nicholas, Madelyn, Ian, Kayla, Katelyn, William, Miley, Caitlin, Nora, Alaina, Joseph, Caleb, James, Kathryn, Isaac and Natalie. Her two great-great-grandchildren: Ayden and Zachary Jr. She is also survived by her dearest friends Darlene Young, Joan Ziarno and Frances Schmitt. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, John T. Whatmough and her grandson John T. M. Whatmough. Her family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the wonderful staff of the E1 ICU at Ellis Hospital, especially Patrick, David, Amanda and Suzanne, for making her time there so comfortable and peaceful. Funeral services Monday, November 20, 2107 at 10:45 am from Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, Albany thence to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Loudonville, NY at 11:30 am where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
