Theodore Michalski

Albany-Theodore “Ted” Michalski, 89, devoted husband and loving father passed peacefully into the arms of the Angels Monday, February 10, 2014. Ted was the second son of Edward and Antonia Raszkowski Michalski. He was predeceased by his adored wife Julie Greschiak Michalski, cherished sister Helen Tanski and beloved brother-in-law Joseph Tanski, brother Edward Michalski and his wife Mary, and his loved friend Helen Simon. Murph as he was affectionately called by his sister Helen, was someone who enjoyed life and simple family moments that make memories. He proudly served his Country in the Army during WW II as a member of the 97th Infantry Division 386th Regiment rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He saw action in France, Germany, and Czechoslovakia and while there his infantry liberated the Flossenburg Concentration Camp. He also served in the Philippines and Japan. After returning home to Albany, he worked at the Albany Meter Works and after a notable career of 32 years retired from the Postal Service as a letter carrier; a job he truly enjoyed. Retirement was not to be boring as he spent his time working for Schubba Dental and golfing with his buddies, Conway, Nash, the Colonel and Ramunzo (and recently with his son-in-law Mike). A gentile gentleman, Ted leaves to forever cherish his memory his daughter and son-in-law Donna and Michael Cramer, whom Ted loved as a son. Nephew Frank Michalski and his wife Yulan, niece Jean Pfeiffer and her husband Tom, and their children Lynn, Terri (Shawn), Christine (Rich) and Tom (Julie), and his special family Nunzio and the late Marjorie Hughes and their children Debbie (Rich), Linda (Tony) and Karen (Greg) and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews along with his furry companion, Rosebud. He was a honorary life member of Msgr. Arthur J. Reilly Assembly 1915 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; a life member Albany Polish American Citizens Club; a life member of the Colonie Lodge of Elks, 2192; a member of the Capital City Merged Branch 29, National Association of Letter Carriers; and a member of the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post. Funeral services Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 8:15 am from the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, now located at 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to St. Joan of Arc Church, Menands at 9:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, February 14, 2014 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
